for Homelessness
Local Community & Faith-Based Groups
- Mission Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation A spiritual community of caring hearts and open minds that focuses on social justice and compassion. I organized an event where bilingual high schoolers worked with non-English-speaking unhoused individuals to help them share their voices at the City Council.
- Tri-City Islamic Center (Masjid Al-Aziz) A vibrant mosque and community center offering support and spiritual guidance to local Muslims and others in need. I worked with the Tri-City Islamic Center to host free Ramadan Iftars for both unhoused Muslims and non-Muslims, fostering unity and support during the holy month.
- Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose A Catholic organization committed to serving the community, particularly in areas of social justice and care for the marginalized. I worked with the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose to distribute over 700 clothes and feminine hygiene products to unhoused individuals, ensuring their dignity and comfort.
- Muslim Democrats & Friends Club A political advocacy group that supports the Muslim community’s involvement in democratic processes. I partnered with Muslim Democrats & Friends Club to amplify the voices of Muslim Democrats at the Fremont City Council, advocating for their needs and rights.
Direct Service & Aid Organizations
- Sleeping Bags for the Homeless of Silicon Valley (SB4HSV) An organization dedicated to providing warmth and basic essentials to the homeless in the Silicon Valley area. I collaborated with SB4HSV to meet with the Fremont mayor and oppose the camping ban, advocating for humane solutions to homelessness.
- Second Harvest of Silicon Valley A food bank committed to alleviating hunger in Silicon Valley by providing food to those in need. I worked with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley to donate food to the local unhoused community, helping provide nourishment to those facing hardship.
- Asha Bhawan A nonprofit organization in Jammu dedicated to empowering vulnerable populations, especially in the areas of education and basic needs. I collaborated with Asha Bhawan to donate food to the unhoused in Jammu, helping to alleviate hunger in the region.
Advocacy
- Fremont For Everyone A local advocacy group focused on lobbying for the rights of the unhoused in Fremont, ensuring they receive proper care and support. I worked with Fremont For Everyone to engage with City Council members Teresa Keng and Raj Salwan, advocating for policies that support the unhoused community.
- Poverty Patchup An advocacy organization focused on addressing poverty and homelessness in the Bay Area. I founded the Fremont Branch of Poverty Patchup to raise awareness among 50+ high schoolers at Mission San Jose, organizing events and collecting clothes to support the local unhoused.
- Where Do We Go? A homeless advocacy group based in Berkeley, working to influence local policies and improve conditions for the unhoused. I collaborated with Where Do We Go? to oppose a similar camping ban in Berkeley, aligning our efforts to protect the rights of the homeless.
Civil Rights
- The American Civil Liberties Union A nationwide nonprofit dedicated to defending the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. I worked with the ACLU to explore legal concerns about the camping ban, providing insight into potential constitutional issues.
- Coalition For the Homeless A nonprofit organization committed to advocating for the rights of the unhoused and ensuring they have access to essential services. I collaborated with the Coalition For the Homeless to campaign for the rights of Fremont’s unhoused population, pushing for fair and equitable policies.
- League of Women Voters A nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. I partnered with the League of Women Voters to donate feminine hygiene products and clothing to unhoused individuals.
