Standing Against the Ban

Standing Against the Ban

When Fremont’s City Council first moved toward creating a camping ban, it was framed as a response to growing public pressure over encampments in parks and public spaces. But behind the veil was something deeper. Key sections such as prohibiting camping on public property, and not allowing camping on private property for more than 3 days, as well as the potential to arrest individuals who were caught helping others. I found this out during the middle of my finals week, and went to the city council to advocate against this ban.
